Removing Whitespace on bar chart visual
Hi,
I have this bar chart and it seems to have a ridiculous amount of white space on it. Below the title and above the X-axis title. I have messed around with all the padding and any spacing options I can find, the white space still remains? Anyone had a similar issue, takes up unncecessary space in my report so quite annoying.
Slightly convuluted but, to get it looking to your spec, I would
- Remove the Title and X-Axis title
- Set the background of the visual to see-through
- Put this visual on top of a white square that's sized to your choosing.

Hi Matt, I guess this would work so I'll try that. So basically I'll have to use data labels and have nothing else on the graph other than the bars.

That's right yes, in that way you get to choose how much empty space is around the bars.

Hi samblackshaw28,
In Power BI, it is possible to adjust spacing. however, it cannot be completely removed and can only be reduced to a certain extent.
Space between bars can be adjusted via:
Visual Formatting → Bars → Layout → Space between categories
Space below the title can be modified via:
General Formatting → Title → Spacing
A simple workaround is to turn off the visual title, X-axis title, and Y-axis title, and then use a text box to add these titles manually. You can group them with the visual to achieve better control over alignment and spacing.💡 Helpful? Give a Kudos 👍 — keep the community growing
