Relationship to my Date table does not work

Hey PowerBI community,

I am having an issue establishing relationship between my Date table and a fact table with a date time field. There is no error. However, the relationship doesn't seem to work. When I bring in a field from the Fact Table and any fields from the Date Table it returns no data which suggests that it isn't work properly.

I tried the following with no success:

1. Converting the Date Time field to Date Data type with "dd mmm yyyy" fornat
2. Converting the Day field of my Calendar Table to the same Date data type and format
3. I tried changing the Cross filter direction (from Single to Both)
4. I tried swapping the tables
5. I tried switching on/off the "Make this relationship active" checkbox
6. I tried swithing on/off the Time Intelligence

None of the above works for me.

I need your help!

Hello everyone - I have a similar issue. The relationship between fact table and dim table doesnt seem to work, as the same data is returned for different dimensions. The fact table is a dataset in Azure, while the dim table is from dataflow. Any help in this is highly appreciated.

HI @JuggernautProf ,

Few questions:

  1. What error ar you getting while establishing the relationship? You will have to add little more details.
  2. If you are getting ambiguity relationship error, then somehow in your data model other tables are indirectly relating your DATE and FACT table.

There is no error. However, the relationship doesn't work when I bring a column from the fact table and the a column from the date table, it shows no data (which suggests that it doesn't seem to work properly).

Hi @JuggernautProf ,

First thing is you will haveto attach some screenshots for me as I have very little idea on what is happening.

Also no data displayed on the visual doesn't always mean that relationship is not working.

Kindly add some screenshots around the issue, it will help me in understanding the issue better 🙂
