Relationship in Custom Dataset

AjayKiran_0-1662388112838.png

Workdone:

  • Created a Dataset 1 by pulling Table A from Source 1.
  • Created a Dataset 2 by pulling Table B and Table C from Source 2.
  • Created a Custom Dataset connecting Dataset 1 and Dataset 2.

Please see the above picture representation.

  • And now, I have created a relationship with Table B and Table A (Relation established).
  • While creating relationship with Table C again with Table A, its showing me an error as below

Table ‘Table B’ filters table ‘Table C’, which is from the same Power BI data source or Analysis Services data source, through a path that exists outside of the data source: ‘Table B’-> ‘ Table A‘->’Table C’.

My Questions:

  • Can we create multiple relationships from Table A to Table B and Table C on same dataset?

And please provide a solution on the error handling.

Please feel free to connect with me on any clarfications required.

Thanks,

Ajay

Hi Paul,

  • Dataset 1 (Pointing to CosmosDB) and Dataset 2 (Pointing to DataLake), both are Published in Service.
  • Custom Dataset was created by using published datasets.
  • I am using preview feature ‘DirectQuery for Power BI datasets and AS’ to convert LiveConnection to DirectQuery.

What is the structure of the "Custom Dataset"? What is the structure of Table A, B & C and what are their origins?

please follow the suggestions in this thread:
