Relationship error

Hi community,

I run into problem where relationship i have created shown correctly in model viewer, however when i go into edit relationship, connection type and direction is shown as opposite. As a result my data model doesn't work correctly.

Correct connection type and direction in model viewer

Incorrect connection type and direction in manage relashionship view:

Does anyone know what might be causing that problem?

Thanks

Replace cross filter direction to both if you want to filter the other way

    Hey Anonymous ,

in the second screenshot the comments table is on the many side and the Rolling Calendar on the one. For that reason the relationship should be in the second screenshot many to one.

Like this the first and second screenshot show the same relationship.

So it's like you want it or did I get something wrong?

If you need any help please let me know.
If I answered your question I would be happy if you could mark my post as a solution ✔️ and give it a thumbs up 👍

The problem is that my comments table seems to be filtering rolling calendar and ZK32 database

  • HI Anonymous ,

The relationship shown in your Edit Relationship window is right based on what is shown in 1st screenshot.

    1. 1st Screenshot: there is a 1-to-many relationship from Rolling Calendar to Comments. The other way of reading this relationship is many-to-1 from Comments to Rolling Calendar.
    2. 2nd Screenshot: Just select the 1st table as Rolling Calendar and 2nd table as Comments in the edit relationship window, you will see exactly same as shown in the 1st screesnhot.

So, Power BI is showing the relationships correct, just that the way you read relationship from one table to another is directed differently.

    Thanks,
