Refreshing appended queries

I have a data source where records for each month are kept in their own table. I connect to all of these and append them in the query editor. I unticked "include in refresh" in all the past months, because the past months do not change so I do not want to download the same 10 million rows every time I refresh.

I have to refresh the combined table because it includes the current month which is still being added on to. My question is, when I refresh the combined table, are the tables for all the past months being downloaded again, even though I set them not to be included in refresh?

@Anonymous,

When the tables for all the past months are involved in an append-operation, even you set them not to be included in refresh, the data in these tables will be refreshed when you refresh the combined table. This behavior is by design.

To work around  this issue, use UNOIN function in DAX to combine data in tables, for more details, please review the following blog.
