From nowhere, all sorts of problems with a dataset:
Error handling in Power BI seemingly could be handled better
The only idea I have is to try and rebuilt the PBIX one table at a time to see if there's one causing the problem. Painfully time consuming, likely inefficient.
Any other ideas on how to proceed?

Coming across the same / similar issue.
Applying changes (after leaving query editor) and refreshing individual tables does not respond with the normal list of events / actions:
Evaluating
Creating connections in model
###### records loaded from (source)
While testing on a smaller table, the data loads (both in refresh and applying changes after exiting query editor) but the notification never progresses past 'Creating connections in model', simply closes when complete.
The number of records loaded is important to see as it actually provides visual feedback, without it, MS will be inundated with complaints such as this.
I have only encountered this since the latest update.
Check out the April 2026 Power BI update to learn about new features.
