Refresh error in workspace when I connected excel file in sharepoint to Power BI

Hi

I have connected excel file saved in sharepoin to power bi then built the report & publish.

But refresh is failed in workspace even I can refresh at power bi desk top.

Here is the step that I have taken.

1. Open excel file --> click info --> copy path

2. In power bi desk top --> web --> paste path of the file

3. Cridential --> Organizational account

4. excel sheet format --> Table

I could build all the report and also could refresh the data in powerbi desktop without any issue.

But after I publish to my power bi. it said refresh fail and the reason was

"

  • Data source errorDataSource.NotFound: Excel Workbook: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine. The 64-bit version of the Access Database Engine OLEDB provider may be required to read this type of file. To download the client software, visit the following site: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=285987.. . The exception was raised by the IDbCommand interface. Table: FT_Main."

I am not so sure what is the reason since I have another report connected with another excel file saved in another sharepoint and with same step, it works fine.. but not this one.

Any one can help?

Perhaps, is it something to do with my access level to this sharepoint? Like just normal member of sharepoint can not perform this??

Thanks

    I found the season that it was due to excel type that I am using binary one which is not supported... The thing is power bi folder or list is not also working. so I will change file type to make it work. thanks for the support!!

    Instead of using the "Web" connector, try using the "SharePoint Folder" or "SharePoint Online List" connectors in Power BI Desktop. Go to Get Data-> SharePoint Folder. Enter your SharePoint site URL, e.g. https://yourcompany.sharepoint.com/sites/yoursite
    Navigate to the Excel file and select it.
