Redacting data from a filtered dataset

Hi all,

I'm hoping I can get some help on an issue I'm having with a report. I've used a 100% stacked column chart visual to present the flow of applicants through a process. The user can select a diversity group to view the split of diversity type at each stage of the process. I've also allowed the user to filter on values from other diversity types e.g. the user can select to view the progression of age groups through the process but can also select only BAME applicants or Female applicant or any combination shown below.

I've got this working (with what I think is not the ideal solution but I'll log that in another question later) but I need to implement a feature where if any of the number of applicants (not % the actual numbers)  dips below 6 in any of the sections I need to do one of two things - 

1. Ideal scenario - the whole column representing that stage (Appstat) is redacted - either shows as zero or disappears from the visual
2. If 1 is not possible the whole visual shows zero data or the is made not visible.

Things I've tried already

1. Setting the count of apps to be > 5 this removes only the section that dips below 6 from the visual which make the % shown misleading e.g. in the image above if through the use of filters the 50+ section of the Appstat6 column dips below 6 then that section disappears from the visual and the % values shown in the other 2 remaining sections of that column are altered to make up the 100%. This would be misleading to the user if they think that 100% of all applicants reaching this stage were 16-34 or 35-49.
2. Creating a mask with a card with a 100% transparent background then if any of the section values dip below 6 the background changes to 0% transparent covering the whole visual. This would fall under solution number 2 and whilst not ideal it would be acceptable other than - by using the mask solution I'm removing the user's ability to hover over each section and see the number values of the sections, which is a requirement.

I hope I've explained the situation clearly enough and someone out there can help.

I am still a little confused about your question.Can you explain it in detail?

And I am very interested in your  mask solution. Does it need to create multiple card visuals applied background conditional format, and  then  use the option "group"to combine them in the same visual.

Can your share a screenshot of your  mask solution steps?
