Ragged Multi-Parent Hierarchy.
Hi,
I am relitively new in the world of data structuring and schemas. I am looking to display a multi-level BOM in it's hierarchal format within a Matrix or Decomposition tree.
Generally I've been able to acheive this. The shortcomings are dealing with Blanks that show up, and inaccurate sums and quantities. For example, see the data table and how it looks in PowerBI.
My Datasource is Excel.

They have certainly been insightful and have taught me a lot. However the data structures in these videos are assuming a child does not have multiple parents which, in the case of a multi-level BOM, can very well be the case. The PATH function seems to be the limiting factor as I think it struggles with multi-parents.
IE, On the Bicycle, there is a front and back wheel assembly. They share the same rim, but have different tires.

i see collaped (unexpanded) section in your matrix table, if you dont want to show the expand and collaps option use the stepped layout option in format pane so your matrix will look like the on ein your excel file.

I was speaking with some people and they mentioned making the parts with multiple parents have unique Id: Part + Assembly ID = Unique ID.
Now, I just need to figure out how to display on a matrix visual just the basic sub assy ID's and Part ID's while relying on the Unique ID's in the background.Just food for thought
