ROW LEVEL SECURITY

Hello, I have setup a row level security for our firm using the Email of our advisers.
lower([Email Address]) = lower ( USERPRINCIPALNAME() )

Everytime a user login, RLS will match the email and if it's the adviser, Powerbi will only show their own performance but if it's the manager it will show the entire report with data of all the advisers.

My issue is, it is working fine for everyone except one. Her email is the same as of the mailbox that i have used for RLS. I have also added her separately but makes no difference. It gives out an erorr "Request access: Lets get you permission to view the report" rather than the normal RLS error. I am confused. can you help me with this?

Thank you!

Hi @IAMUMER072195 ,

Sorry, I provided the wrong picture, it should be this one. (The user should not be in the workspace where the report is located, so he does not have direct access to the dataset.)

The user should not be in the workspace where the report is located, so he does not have direct access to the dataset. You set up RLS for this user, but didn't share the report with him, which is why he can't open the report.

Try to share the report with him.

Hi @IAMUMER072195 ,

Have you granted this user Read access to the dataset?

You can check by steps:

select the workspace >> go to the data sets tab >> select the data set >> click 3 dots at the end of the data set >> Manage Permissions >> Add your user to the dataset and assign them the role as "Read".

Hi, thank you for your reply. My question is If I give them direct access, wouldn't it give them access to the whole report? Person having the issue should only be able to view their own report but direct access will allow them to see everyone else's report as well

Thank you @v-cgao-msft It worked. You have been an enormous help.

Thank you for letting me know. I have shared the report with a colleague and waiting for a response. However, I did notice it created a new link, does that mean there will be two links for people who want to access the reports?
