Quick Insights

Hi All

Just joined the forum. I have a question regarding Quick Insights. I'd like to use Quick Insights on a file I've loaded to Power BI Desktop, but can't find it in there. It would appear not to be there ! Is Quick Insights not available in Power BI Desktop ?

Would appreciate your advice on this.

Thanks

Paul

I'm pretty sure you can only use quick insights in Power BI online https://app.powerbi.com.  You have to publish your data set from Power BI Desktop and then in the web portal under datasets you can click on the elipse next to the dataset name and then choose Quick Insights.

Hi Twan, I am new to POWERBI DESKTOP, I don't see this 'Quick Insights' option. I tried many ways, but I couldn't see this (This option shows for some datasets). Please tell me, if there any possibility to see this option for all datasets.

I couldn't add image here. when I click on ellipsis beside a dataset name, it shows some list of options like

RENAME, REMOVE, SCHEDULE REFRESH, REFRESH NOW, ANALYZE IN EXCEL, SECURITY only. (no  QUICK INSIGHTS here)

      Thanks

      Hi Twan

Thanks for the quick reply. I think you're right, as PowerBI.com seems to be the only place where Quick Insights is available. If that's the case, it's a shame it's not in Power BI Desktop. I wonder why that would be the case ? Probably a question for the Power BI Development team.

      Thanks again !

This is a fantastic feature and shouldn't be hidden away on the Dataset Menu. It needs to be more accessible, including keeping the text when pinning the item to a dashboard.

  • Is this feature still missing from the desktop version?
