Hi Team,

Could you please tell me what technology used behind the Q&A Visualization and another question is can we incorporte Gen AI in Power BI , if yes then how ?

The Q&A Visualization in Power BI utilizes natural language processing (NLP) to interpret user queries and generate appropriate visualizations. It leverages synonyms and relationships defined in the data model to understand and respond to user questions.​

Regarding Generative AI, while Power BI's Q&A feature isn't generative AI per se, Microsoft Fabric's Copilot, a premium feature, integrates generative AI capabilities to assist users in creating and analyzing data visualizations more effectively.​

Q&A isn't generative per se, it's mostly just using the synonyms for fields and tables that you've configured and creating basic guesses at visuals based on the language you use in your question. You can preconfigure some as buttons, but its pretty dependent on how clean and synonymed your model is. 

The generative stuff will be copilot, which is a premium feature in Fabric when you use it with models like this.

I am not sure about what exact technology being used in Q&A but Q&A feature is there for very long time. I would see initial version of Power BI where Power BI Q&A was part of SharePoint as well.
