Question regarding utilizing slicer

I have data over the months of July, August, Septemeber, October. Is it possible to have a slice card in which the viewer of the report can filter the bar graph based on month?

Currently my chart is split by months:

Would it be possible to have a slicer card which has the check boxes for: July, August, September, October? Ideally if the viewer selects July, for example, the bar graph would show Day 1 - 31 on the x axis and show whatever count I have already in place for the y - axis.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion!!

Hi @shadedfern ,

According to your statement, I think you just need to add a Day column in X axis in your stacked column chart to create a hierarchy level like Month/Day. Then you can filter the Month in slicer and drill down to Day level manually.

For reference:

@shadedfern On the report canvas, select the slicer icon in the Visualizations pane to create a new slicer.

With the new slicer selected, from the Fields pane, drag and drop the field that contains the month names (such as “Month” or “Date”) into the Values box in the Slicer pane.

Resize and position the slicer as you like on the report canvas. You can also format the slicer by using the different properties in the Format pane, such as changing the orientation, font size, color, etc.

To make sure that the slicer only affects the bar graph and not other visuals on the page, you can use the Edit interactions feature. To do this, select the slicer and then select Edit interactions from the Format menu on the ribbon. You will see icons on each visual that indicate how they are affected by the slicer. Select the None icon (a circle with a slash) on any visual that you don’t want to be filtered by the slicer. Select Done when you finish editing the interactions.

Now you have a slicer card that can filter your bar graph based on month. You can select one or more months on the slicer and see how the bar graph changes accordingly.
