Hello Community,
I am using query parameters in Power Query to be able to change what Google Big Query project/dataset I am fetching data from. This works great in desktop but when I publish to the service, the parameters are greyed out and cannot be edited. I haven't been able to find a fix / reason for this, I haven't experienced params being unavaible in service before.
Does anyone have an ideA?
Solved! Go to Solution.
The issue was that the parameters was set to type: "Any". Switching them to "Text" fixed the issue.
From the documentation:
"Grayed-out fields aren't editable. Any and Binary type parameters work in Power BI Desktop. The Power BI service doesn't currently support them for security reasons."
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/service-parameters
I am facing the same issue for a parameter of type "Any". Can also confirm that parameters of type "Text" work fine and are not grayed out for this same data set I have - they work and are not grayed out.

Thanks. This helped fix my issue too. Connecting to Databricks data source, so according to this, Databricks is not supported for Data source rules to switch the Schema names etc, so had to use parameters. The Parameter rules are not greyed out now after changing the parameter type from "Any" to "Text".

@BIanon , I am hoping you are talking about datasource setting in the power bi service. This means data source credential has some issue or you are also using local source that need gateway
No I am talking about the section beneath data source setting called "Parameters".
Why do you hope I am talking about datasource settings?
