Query containment concept with DAX

Hello,

I am wondering whether I can get some help on a DAX concept.  I am working towards the British Computer Society Data Analysit qualification.  One of the requirements I have to fullfil for this qualification is Query Containment. I thought DAX can be used as a Query containment tool?   I have so far used measures such as CALENDARAUTO, SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR and DATESINPERIOD with CALCULATE. I don't use SQL. So if someone could confirm DAX measues are accepted as query containment that would be very helpful.  Also are my three DAX mentioned above would be accepted as query containment.

@Anonymous , there is a lot of definition around Query Containment. Can you explain your need ?

The information you have provided is not making the problem clear to me. Can you please explain with an example.

Thanks for your comments. 

I have to demonstrate the skill to filter and retrieve specific data using database queries in more than one database table. It sounds like this query containment is equivalent of a SELECT command and a nested query? My question is whether some of the DAX measures such as SAMEPERIODLAST YEAR etc can be used for query containment?
