Hi - this error keeps happing with my query, but I think it's a bug. If I went ahead and refreshed the data straight away again, it would run with no issues. Is this a known problem or am I just lucky?
And yes - I have rebuild the data combination, and the error comes back eventually even if no other changes are made.
Thanks!

Hi @Shure846
There are three possible ways to solve this issue:
1) Simple solution is to set ignore privacy levels as per below screenshot
From File -> Options and Settings -> Current File -> Privacy -> Check Ignore the Privacy levels option
Note: This will work only in Power BI Desktop
2) Set Proper Privacy levels
Go to Data Sources Settings from Transform Data -> Set all sources privacy levels to Organization as per need.
3) Replace step with combined code
In this way you need to copy all the steps in target source which are required.

Hi all - thanks for the suggestions but I haven't been able to establish the root cause of the error.

Thanks - step 1 worked for me. I haven't had that error pop up since I changed the privacy levels are per the screenshot.
I appreciate the help!
Can you please Open Power Query and screenshot all details please.
All screenshots possible please.

When you click Refresh
Do you still get the error?
The step "Replaced value 25" refrences other queries or steps that is not supported.
You need to figure it out which one and check which one is not query folding.
In my opinion, looking at those many steps applied i think lots of them need to be re set or avoided.

No - I can refresh the preview with no issues and when I go back to main PBI interface I can hit refresh again and the proccess will run with no problems or complaints.
Regarding your commend about query folding, how can I determine which one is causing the problem?
Well done then! the issue is solved? by first refreshing it in Power Query!

That's the problem - this error pop up message continues to come up, but then allows me to refresh the dataset with no problems or changes being made.
This is why I thought it might be a bug, since it still works and allows the file to refresh with no changes being made.
It's not a bug. The refresh is just not working.
As I said, you need to verify the applied steps one by one and see if you can combine some steps in one.
My doubts still up for these steps
and why so many merged queries!!

Correct - the refresh isn't working some of the time. Shouldn't the refresh be binary (work or not work)?
Thanks
Some of the time !!!
It's either working or not working. If it was working and now it is not working it means that something has changed at the Data source level. Check it out then.
Ex : a date format is not correctly entered can break the refresh.

That's why I suggested it being a bug. Nothing changed in the data source between the error/failure and the good refresh.
Ok let's troubleshoot it:
Open a completly new Power bi File and Open a Blank Query in Power Query. Copy the M code from Sales Table and paste it into the new file. Close and apply.
Do you know how to do it?
Let me know please.

Looks like a formula firewall issue. Chris Webb discussed this on his blog - https://blog.crossjoin.co.uk/tag/formula-firewall/
Based on his post - wouldn't the error window have "Formula.Firewall" in it? Also, right after I got that error window I refreshed the data again and it worked with no complaints.
is your data source or data changed? you can check Replaced Value25 and modify that step to fix the issue.
Proud to be a Super User!
No - data source stayed the same, and the replace value statement is changing a specific name to a slighly different value. I'm not sure how to modify it and still have it do what I'm looking to acomplish.
Hi @Shure846
Open Power Query and verify the "Applied Steps", there must be an error somewhere.
