Publish to Web - Privacy Concerns

Hello Everyone,

As I understand correctly, there is no way to share reports (for view and interact only) with users having a free Power BI license except using the "Publish to Web" feature. But when trying to publish to web it says:

I have a few questions related to this:

• Although the report is public, it still will be available to only users with links. Is my understanding correct?
• In what scenarios Microsoft may use my report? Will I be notified when and where my report is used by Microsoft?

For my second point, I would like to know how "Microsoft" is going to use my report? It says in the prompt that Microsoft can use it on public websites or public galleries. Will they(Microsoft) notify us if they are going to use our report?

Hi @gcp_kumar ,

For the first question, I agree with you that anyone who get the web link could see the report since it is "Public".

You could know  who viewed your report, how many times the report has been viewed and other basic information but no notifications by using "Usage Metrics" . But for the second, in my opinion, such a smart function could not be implemented .

@gcp_kumar User will able to see the report only when they recieve the link and i do not think you will be notified when any of the user opens the report.When data privacy is a concern i do not recommend publish to web .However, you can make use of workspace with premium capacity.When a worspace is made with premium capacity you do not have to buy individual pro license to the users , you can provie view access to the users and they will be able to access the report....Once your workspace is in premium capacity you can publish the report via apps
