Publish to SharePoint Online: What are the current options?

I appreciate that the question has been asked and answered hundred of times in various communities. However, given the constant evolution of both Power BI and SharePoint online, the challenge is to find current solutions.

Publishing a report to SharePoint using the Power BI web part works fine, and still requires a Power BI Pro license for the publisher and the report viewers.

Now, what are the options (if any) to publish a report to SharePoint Online without viewers needing a Power BI license? This page describes how to publish the report using a Page Viewer web part. This web part has since been replaced with the Embed web part. However, this doesn't seem to work:

Using an iframe doesn't make a difference either.

Hence my question: what are the current options?

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Hi @mrgou ,

1.For Embed in SharePoint Online reports to work, the following is required:

• A Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) license or a Power BI Premium capacity (EM or P SKU) with a Power BI license.
• The Power BI web part for SharePoint Online requires Modern Pages.
• To consume an embedded report, users must sign in to Power BI service to activate their Power BI license.

2. If you want to publish a report without viewers needing a Power BI license. You can select Publish to web in free license to publish your report, anyone on the Internet can view your published report or visual. Viewing requires no authentication.
