Hi Team,
Recently started using Power BI and got stuck while publishing the report to SharePoint.
prerequisite
- SharePoint Server and Site
- Power BI Desktop Version Software
- DashBoard Prepared and published on app.powerbi.com
I have few question
- Do I need any upgrade on subscription
- Procedure to publish Power BI DashBoard on SharePoint
- Prepared PDF reports (if any spcipting language can be used)
Thanks a lot in advance to all.
The only additional thing I would comment on, is if your business is using Office 365 and you have access to SharePoint online you can embed the Power BI report directly into a SharePoint Online modern web page.
But you won't be able to get sharepoint link without publishing dashboard to the Power BI services and this is again show stopper for making On Premise publishing.
Is there any possiblity to share the report in sharepoint 2016 without publishing to the Power BI server?
Appreciated your support.
Thanks,
Thimma
Thimma,
I believe the answer is 'no'. I am guessing you do not want to publish to the web due to data sensitivity.
FYI, an on premise Power BI should be in the works. However, I am sure it won't come cheap.
Cheers,
D
Currently using Free Version of Power BI because doing testing.
Hi @Zenision,
Please be aware that the Publish to Web feature is available to the PUBLIC.
The PowerBI team does need to add security to ensure it is only viewable within an organisation. Until then, I can't really see much benefit in the Publish to Web feature unless you are wanting to share data with the world, which is highly unlikely.
Cheers,
DJ
Hi @djnww,
I have a quick question about publishing PowerBI dashboard to web. My organization has a license for PowerBI (basic version, not Pro) and when you say publishing makes data available to public, does it include organizations with a license or is it for those who use the free version with no license?
I am really concerned about publishing my reports onto PowerBI for security issues. Could you please clarify on this.
Thanks
SR
Hi,
Here is your answer:
Create Power BI report and publish in SharePoint - this article explains in detail about publsihing Power BI report using Power BI pro and also with out Pro license.
Please revert incase if you have any questions.
I know this is quite a late reply, but there is a Sharepoint App for Power BI.
The app only works with Sharepoint online, though.

Hi @Zenision,
Firstly, you can publish report from Power BI Service to SharePoint by using the “Publish to web” feature. This feature is still in preview, you can use it in free version currently, and you don’t need to upgrade subscription.
Secondly, get the embed code as described in this article, and then use it to embed the report in SharePoint, there is also a similar blog for your reference.
Thirdly, we are not able to publish Power BI Dashboard on SharePoint, regarding to this issue, please vote it and add your comments in this idea.
In addition, could you please elaborate more details about the ” Prepared PDF reports” question?
Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
