Project Online oData with oAuth connection - The User Was Not Authorized

Hi there,

I've read all the related posts I can find on this matter, but it would appear the problem I'm facing is not quite the ame as others. I'd appreciate any guidance to troubleshoot further.

When trying to create a new oData Feed to Projects Online, I use the same URL that I use when accessing Projects Online via my web browser, namely https://<companyname>.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa

I select oAuth as my authentication mode and successfully login, however when I then click on Connect I receive the dreaded "User was not Authorized" error.

Some previous issues spoke about editing the connector and limiting the size of the record set, or something like that, however my challenge is that I haven't yet even managed to establish the connection.

I have confirmed my oAuth credentials by logging into the URL as shared above and confirming that I can see a variety of project details, however I have this naive suspicion that perhaps my account requires a uniquely specific right/permission to in fact access the necessary data via oData and PowerBI?

Again, any advice appreciated.

Regards

William R.

Hi all,

I came across Paul Mather's article and demo PBIX file which connects to a PWA site and already provides a host of visuals pertaining to good project management and governance. It was a great start for me, and can be downloaded from his Technet site, at https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Online-Power-BI-Report-de969b81#content

Kudos to Ronnie7, whom I believe has also identified the matter of using an ODATA feed to connect to the actual PWA API itself.

From another one of Paul Mather's articles, he explains how to view the methods and properties within this API, by navigating to https://<sharepoint PWA site name>/sites/pwa/_api/ProjectData

His full article can be viewed at https://pwmather.wordpress.com/category/uncategorized/
