Produce a message based on supplied date

I need to check the start date for the filter and if it's less than the current January 1st of the current year produced a message. Otherwise I want it blank. Below is my current attempt but it just shows the message and it's reacting to the data produced at all.
 
 
Post Date Message = if(SELECTEDVALUE(GL_TRAN_ACT[GL_POST_DT]) < DATEVALUE("2019-01-01"), "Equity % of Asset Visual only calculates on or after the start of the current year", "")

    Hi GunnerJ ,

    Create your measure like so:

    Post Date Message =
VAR startdate =
    CALCULATE (
        MIN ( GL_TRAN_ACT[GL_POST_DT] ),
        ALLSELECTED ( GL_TRAN_ACT[GL_POST_DT] )
    )
RETURN
    IF (
        startdate < DATE ( YEAR ( TODAY () ), 1, 1 ),
        "Equity % of Asset Visual only calculates on or after the start of the current year",
        ""
    )

    I think you to get min date of slicer first and then use it compare with '2019-01-01'

     

     

    var _start_date_1 = minx(GL_TRAN_ACT,SELECTEDVALUE(GL_TRAN_ACT[GL_POST_DT]))
