Problem with mmm in custom format on date field

I am trying to create a chart friendly Month Year field formatted as mmm-yyyy (Feb-2022) but the custom formatting field is not accepting the mmm-yyyy as a valid string.  Has anyone else run into this?

Month Year column is data type Date

But when I go to the model view to apply the custom format it is not taking the mmm as short month.

I input mmm-yyyy it converts it to MMM-2019

I am working on Version: 2.100.1401.0 64-bit (December 2021) that I just downloaded from the Microsoft site.

I have attached my sample file if anyone wants to look with it.

Hmmm... you didn't get my point. The lower-case "mmm" in the format string is the key.

Thanks to the great efforts by MS engineers to simplify syntax of DAX! Most beginners are SUCCESSFULLY MISLED to think that they could easily master DAX; but it turns out that the intricacy of the most frequently used RANKX() is still way beyond their comprehension!

DAX is simple, but NOT EASY!

Thank you @CNENFRNL

When you use FORMAT you get a text field that won't sort in chart axis correctly.  I wasn't looking for an alternative, I was looking for feedback if other users are seeing the same problem.

Ah, gotcha.  Yes, doing the string in the format field of the table view seems to do the trick.  Thank you!
