Prevent 1st Row of Hierarchy From Moving To Column On Right-Click Show Next Level

Hi all,
Using PBID Nov, 2024.

I have a Hierarchy on Rows : 1-2-3
If I right-click on Rows and select "Show Next Level" the 1st level of the hierarchy moves to Columns.

How can I setup so simply moves down to level 2 in the hierarchy and does not move the first level to columns?

Thanks,
w

Thanks@Anonymous ,

The data is sensitive so I cannot share.
Not sure what I did to create the issue originally.

To fix it I tested another matrix on the same page in the report to make sure it did not have the same "Next Level" issue - it did not. All matrices have the same format.

I added the original fields back to the CCMatrix and tested after each field was added
The issue did not re-prsent itself
The report is back up and running with all components working as expected - just in time for the weekend.
All is right with the world!

Thanks,

-w

Hi @tecumseh ,

Could you please provide example data or sample files here if you have any confused? We could offer you more help if we have information in detail. And what you expect the output to be. There is sensitive data that can be removed in advance. How to provide sample data in the Power BI Forum - Microsoft Fabric Community

https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/How-to-Get-Your-Question-Answered-Quickly/ba-p/38490

Here is my data file, when I click "Show the next level", it will return the next level of data.

Perhaps you could try to erase your private data or recreate a sample dataset with other unimportant data instead, and then show the content of the screenshot that bothers you, and we can help you more accurately with more detailed information.

Thank you for your understanding!

Best regards,

Lucy Chen

@audreygerred,

I checked using AdventureWorks Sales.
The 1st item in the Row Hierarchy did not move to columns so I have done something to my matrix back over in my production report.

I'll step through tomorr and compare matrix settings compared to the Matrix I just created in AW Sales

Thanks,

w

Hi! Can you send screenshots of what is happening? I am not able to replicate.

Here, I have a matrix with a hierarchy in rows:

If I right click and show next level, it does exactly that - it moves to the next level in my hierarchy which is Segment, but nothing gets moved to columns. Show next level is the equivalent of clicking the third icon when you hover on a visual with nested items in the rows or columns.

If you expand next level it keeps your hierarchy in place and expands down to the next level (this is the equivalent of the 4th icon when you hover on a visual):

thanks @audreygerred ,

I cannot due to sensitivity.
I'll see if I can re-create on one of the fictitious datasets and come back.

Thanks,
