Preselected Slicer is not interacting with another Preselected slicer
- 7 months ago
Click Slicer1 (Year)
Go to Format ribbon → Edit interactions
On Slicer2 (Hypertension type) you’ll see icons:
Filter (funnel)
None (circle-with-slash)
Make sure Slicer2 is set to Filter, not None.

This happens because both slicers are preselected, so Power BI applies each slicer’s filter independently at page load and does not re-evaluate one slicer based on the other’s selection. As a result, Slicer 2 keeps showing all values even if only a subset exists for the Year selected in Slicer 1. To fix this, clear the default selection from one slicer, ensure Edit interactions is enabled between slicers, or use a dimension table (separate lookup table) for slicers instead of slicing directly from the fact table.
Hello Anonymous ,
what danextian mentioned is the way slicers work, if you want that when you unselect the first one to unselect the other by default, the you can have them in one slicer as a hierarchy and in this case they will work both together.
unselect the year
