Powerbi template file with just the data and no data source connection issue to share with others

Hi, Is there a way to export a powerbi template with just the datasets, relationships and measures without the visuals? Can it be done using the May 2020 version?

Hi @Sagejah9

Power BI report templates contain the following information from the report from which they were generated:

  • Report pages, visuals, and other visual elements
  • The data model definition, including the schema, relationships, measures, and other model definition artifacts
  • All query definitions, such as queries, Query Parameters, and other query elements

So you cannot export a Power BI template with just the datasets, relationships and measures without the visuals .If you don’t want the visuals , you can copy the pbix file and then delete all the visuals in it .

@Sagejah9 maybe easier to save a copy of pbix to another file, add a new page without any visual and remove all other pages that have visual and then save it as a template.
