Advocate IPowerbi Service - Share Dashboard and include Optional Message- Message Fails to Show Up
Hi,
After I publish a dashboard to the Powerbi Service, I typically share the link with assorted folks in my organization. I tend to include a message in the shared emailed link. While the link shows up in the email, whatever message I typed up doesn't show up in the email that I sent. I've tried various dashboards and no messages show up in the email to accompany the link. The message was showing up with the link to the dashboard up til about a month or so ago. Anyone else experiencing this? Did a permission change in the service that is excluding the message by chance? Thanks in advance! -Sue

Yeah, a few folks have run into this recently. This isn't a permission change or anything you broke on your end—it's a known issue with how the Power BI Service handles the native "Share" email feature when routing through certain Outlook/Exchange tenants.
What's happening behind the scenes is that Microsoft's automated mailer generates the standard template wrapper for the report link, but a recent update to the service is causing the custom message string to get dropped or blocked right before the mail leaves the tenant.
The quickest way around this right now is to stop using the direct email input box inside the Share dialog. Instead, click Share, choose Copy Link, and then paste that link directly into a standard Outlook email. That way your message is guaranteed to go through, and you won't have to worry about the Service dropping your text until Microsoft rolls out a fix for the native mailer.
