PowerBi Desktop Hangups / Freezing
Yeah, its resolved - Microsoft have released newer versions and that bug was squashed - Nothing changed on my end.
hi macmy034 ,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community.
Possible Reasons for Freezing:
1.Check how much RAM is free on your system. Power BI can consume a lot of memory, especially when handling large datasets.
2.Sometimes, browsers running in the background also take up significant RAM, affecting performance.
3.Look at Task Manager (Windows) or Activity Monitor (Mac) to see if there are too many processes running. Closing unnecessary apps can help free up resources.
4.If your dataset is very large or your model has many relationships and calculations, Power BI might slow down. Consider performing transformations in Power Query before loading the data.
5.A weak or unstable internet connection can slow down the publishing process. Try using a wired connection or ensuring no other heavy downloads/uploads are running.
6.Sometimes, Power BI Online itself might be experiencing outages or slowdowns. Check the Power BI service status before publishing.
Some Ways to Optimize Performance
1.Remove unnecessary columns, relationships, or calculations. Load only the data you need to reduce the report size.
2.If possible, upgrade RAM or increase virtual memory to help with performance. Close other memory-intensive applications while working on Power BI.
3.Make sure your connection is stable and fast before publishing.
4.If working in an organization, try publishing when fewer people are online to avoid server congestion.
5.Preprocess and clean your data in Power BI Dataflows to reduce the load on your report.
6.Keep an eye on CPU, RAM, and network usage while publishing to identify any bottlenecks.
