I've just updated to the latest PowerBi version ( 2.141.1253.0 ) and noticed that I'm having the software feeze often, nothing seems to cause it that I can repeat, it just hangs and locks up.
e.g Creating a Calculated column, after I've clicked the Publish button, Renaming a field, just routine things but it has trouble and freezes up on me.
Decent laptop, 32gb of ram, hdd has space all that jazz - anyone else encoutering issues?

i had the same problem, my power bi was freezing when creating a measure ou a column, almost every time when using this version 2.141.1253.0
today i updated to the latest version (2.141.1451.0), and now looks like the freezes stopped
I am having the same issue.
@v-bmanikante , I have followed the suggestions that you have made. I have a 64GB machine and the RAM never goes up over 20GB, so it is definitely not a RAM issue.
I happens randomly but happens very frequently, amount 2 -3 times every hour.
Hi @macmy034,
we wanted to kindly follow up to check if the solution provided for the issue worked? or Let us know if you need any further assistance?

No - Its not a generic "you dont have enough CPU, RAM, HDD" error causing this, Its hanging due to the runtime of PowerBi. I imagine an exception is not begin caught and its looping. Devs either skipped a few tests on this release, or its something they're not catching.
Hi @macmy034 ,
If you’re still facing the issue, could you please try reinstalling Power BI Desktop and check if the problem persists?
If the error continues even after a fresh installation, I’d recommend raising a support ticket with Microsoft for further assistance — they’ll be able to dig deeper into system-specific issues.

hi @macmy034 ,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community.
Possible Reasons for Freezing:
1.Check how much RAM is free on your system. Power BI can consume a lot of memory, especially when handling large datasets.
2.Sometimes, browsers running in the background also take up significant RAM, affecting performance.
3.Look at Task Manager (Windows) or Activity Monitor (Mac) to see if there are too many processes running. Closing unnecessary apps can help free up resources.
4.If your dataset is very large or your model has many relationships and calculations, Power BI might slow down. Consider performing transformations in Power Query before loading the data.
5.A weak or unstable internet connection can slow down the publishing process. Try using a wired connection or ensuring no other heavy downloads/uploads are running.
6.Sometimes, Power BI Online itself might be experiencing outages or slowdowns. Check the Power BI service status before publishing.
Some Ways to Optimize Performance
1.Remove unnecessary columns, relationships, or calculations. Load only the data you need to reduce the report size.
2.If possible, upgrade RAM or increase virtual memory to help with performance. Close other memory-intensive applications while working on Power BI.
3.Make sure your connection is stable and fast before publishing.
4.If working in an organization, try publishing when fewer people are online to avoid server congestion.
5.Preprocess and clean your data in Power BI Dataflows to reduce the load on your report.
6.Keep an eye on CPU, RAM, and network usage while publishing to identify any bottlenecks.
If this post helps, then pleas consider Accepting as solution to help the other members find it more quickly. I would be grateful for a "Kudos" if you found my response helpful.
