PowerBI July 2025

I am teaching a summer course with a book published within the last year. Unfortunately, the newest version of PowerBI Desktop does not work with the textbook. I need to download and install July 2025 so that my students who are new to IT can work with the software. After searching for a while and using solutions posted online, it seems that the older versions have been moved. Can someone supply a linke to PowerBI Desktop July 2025?  I would greatly appreciate it.

  • The official Microsoft archive page for previous Power BI Desktop versions is here:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/fundamentals/desktop-latest-update-archive.

Scroll to the July 2025 update (version 2.145.1105.0) section. There you’ll find the direct download links for the (English) 64-bit and 32-bit installers.

    Quick Tips for Your Class

    • Recommend 64-bit for most modern systems (better performance with larger datasets).
    • After installing the July 2025 version, disable automatic updates in Power BI Desktop (File > Options and settings > Options > Updates) so it doesn’t upgrade automatically when students open it.
    • Warn students that files saved in newer versions cannot be opened in this older version.
    • Microsoft only archives the English version for older releases.

This is the standard, supported way to get previous monthly builds. Avoid third-party sites (e.g., Uptodown) for security and reliability reasons, especially with students new to IT.
