PowerBI Desktop or Power BI - refresh

Hello,

Sorry for this basic question but I could not find any clear answer elsewhere.

I realize a report based on an Excel file that is stored on One Drive Business. Every day this Excel file is updated with new data. This raises the need for me to update the Power BI report.

When I realize the report from Power Bi this update is done automatically. But i prefer to work from Power Bi Desktop and unless I mistake Power Bi Desktop does not realize this update automatically. Am I right?

A Power Bi report (made with PBI Desktop), based on the data of a Excel file stored on OneDrive Business, is updated automatically or not when the data in the Excel file change? (as is done on Power Bi "Online")

• Report Power Bi Online ->  the datasets is the .xlsx -> update Excel = automatic update PBI Online report
• Report Power Bi Desktop -> the datasets is the .pbix file, not the .xlsx -> update Excel = manual update PBI Desktop report

Is it corrext?
