Hi BeckyParm ,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.
Thanks for providing the full error details. This error typically means Power BI Desktop was unable to initialize its internal Analysis Services .- Possible causes include a corrupted .pbix file, insufficient memory, or system resource conflicts. Additionally, issues may stem from a custom visual, a recent Power BI update, or interference from system/OS updates or antivirus software.
- A simple restart might resolve the issue—close Power BI completely, including from Task Manager, then reopen it.
- If the issue is limited to a single file, try opening a different .pbix file to determine whether the problem lies with the file itself or the application.
- Any specific policy and firewall rules existed on your device? (they may block power bi process.
- You may check Troubleshoot opening Power BI Desktop and try Download Power BI Desktop directly.
-
Try to uninstall completely, reboot the machine and try to install PBI Desktop again.
