PowerBI Desktop crashes when going to datatab

Hey guys,

I'm working with a very large amount of data in PowerBI (I've got 13 tables with a total of around 2,500,000 rows; some tables also contain 5+ columns).

When I haven't build any visualisations in the 'report' tab, I have got no problems with going into the 'data' tab and do edits there.

However, when I have some charts/graphs etc. in the 'report' tab and I try to go to the 'data' tab, it crashes 9/10 times.

No problems with the 'relations' tab though.

Is this a PowerBI issue? Or is this caused because my computer can't handle it (processor/ram not strong enough)?

Does anyone else have this as well and maybe knows a solution or a tip?

Thanks in advance,

Niels

@Niels_NL, do you get any errors when the Desktop crashes ?

Nope, just "Microsoft Power BI has stopped working". @akjana

hmmm. do you see any event logs for Power BI Desktop/CefSharp.SubBrowserprocess.exe ?

Does this happens if you import a simple csv as well ?

If you can't find any event logs, then please capture a user mode dump and "send a frown" with it at the top left.

@Niels_NL Try re-installing the Desktop setup with the latest setup download from Power BI website. Also check Task Manager if your Desktop tool consumes more RAM. If yes, then you might need to increase RAM as the dataset size is too large.
