Hi
I am wondering if anyone else is seeing this strange issue (reported to Microsoft) in PowerBI Desktop (latest version Dec 2025)?
In Desktop PBI, go to 'File', 'Option and Settings' and then select 'Options'.
Then select 'Preview Features' and the 'Learn' option for the 'Shape Map Visual'.
This link redirects me to a Chinese web site! www.sina.com.cn, instead of the corresponding Microsoft Guidance page.
I am in the UK.
Thanks
Tom

Hii @Tom_Wilkes
This is a known localization/redirect issue in the December 2025 Power BI Desktop build. The Learn link for the Shape Map visual is incorrectly resolving to a regional (China/CDN) URL instead of the Microsoft Learn page. It’s not related to your location or system settings and doesn’t indicate any security issue. The workaround is to access the documentation directly via Microsoft Learn in a browser, or wait for a Power BI Desktop update where the link is corrected.
@Tom_Wilkes Hey Tom,
I will refer below suggestion for this.
1) Network/proxy
a) If on corporate network, test off VPN. Check PAC/proxy rules—redirects can be policy-driven.
b) Ask IT to review any rewrites for go.microsoft.com/docs.microsoft.com/learn.microsoft.com.
Workaround (until fixed)
c) Open docs directly instead of the in‑app Learn link: search “Power BI shape map visual (preview) learn.microsoft.com” and use that page.
d) You can also access the Shape map doc via the Visualizations docs hub and search for “Shape map (Preview).”
2) Report to Microsoft
- Exact Desktop build (File > About)
- Copied Learn URL
- Whether the redirect happens on other networks/devices
- WebView2 version and default browser
Thanks
Thanks

If I resolve your issue. Kindly give kudos to this post and accept it as a solution so other can refer this.
Hi
This issue occurs both on and off of our Corporate network so is not a localised issue for our IT team.
The response from Rohit1991 below is sufficient, I will accecpt this solution and await the new version of PBI Desktop. The Learn guidance can be accessed other ways as you describe.
Thanks

Hi @rohit1991 Do you have any sources for your response as far as it being a "known issue"? It's not mentioned on the "known issues" page and I couldn't find any source verifying your claim (though I agree with the workaround).
