I need help in resolving these issues - I am unable to access SharePoint excel file. It looks like this issue is isolated to me because my coworkers can and this very frustrating because we are working as a team, and we need to share and use the files on the SharePoint. I am using the connection "From Web" after entering the SharePoint link I selected the "Organizational Account" the I was authenticated enter user password. Then I get the message that "We couldn't authenticate with the credentials provided. Please try again". My Power BI in the icon on the right upper corner correctly sates my name and the organization. Also, I can access the files (upload download create folders) on the share drive via Microsoft browser. To make sure the there is not issue with my privileges I created a folder and uploaded excel file and I try to connect via Power BI and I got the same results as described above. Please help have no idea how to resolve the issue.
Hi @Anonymous ,
Based on your problems, here are my answers.
Open your Power BI Desktop. Go to File > Options and settings > Options. Under the GLOBAL menu, navigate to Security. Scroll down to Authentication Browser and check the box for Use my default web browser. Refresh your data source and try connecting to SharePoint again. You can read this document: Solved: Credential issues in Power BI connecting to ShareP... - Microsoft Fabric Community
Make sure you have the necessary permissions in SharePoint to access the files. If you’re trying to access a dataset from a shared SharePoint folder where you were granted permission to edit, ensure that your permissions are correctly set up. If needed, clear permissions from SharePoint and reconfigure them.
To verify that there are no issues with your privileges, create a new folder and upload a test Excel file. Attempt to connect to this test file via Power BI using the same steps. If you encounter the same authentication issue, it might indicate a broader issue that needs further investigation.
