Power Bi Dashboard alerts
I am currently working on Power BI Alert and have encountered some challenges. I would appreciate your assistance in resolving it.
Here are the steps I've taken so far:
- I created a dashboard and pinned the reports to it in Power BI.
- Next, I attempted to publish the dashboard in different environment(test and prod) and created Alert.
- Only I can see the alerts I have set, even if you share the dashboard.
- However, other team members are unable to view or manage the alerts which was set by me.
As per the above approach, could you please suggest is there any alternative approach where deployment of alerts can be done in different environment .
Also, that alert can be visible by other team member, without any dependencies.
Hello Anonymous ,
yes, you are the only one who can see or manage the alerts as per microsoft documentation
"Only you can see the alerts you set, even if you share your dashboard."
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/service-set-data-alerts
SO, if they want to have alerts they should set it up as you did.

Hi Idrissshatila ,
I need a suggestion, how do we deploy the alert from one environment to another environment though deployment pipeline?
Post deployment of the dashboard, whether the created alerts will be automatically generated, or we need to create manually.
Any suggestion or advice will be highly appreciated.
Thanks

I need suggestion :
- If we create an alert , other team members are unable to view or manage the alerts which was set by me.
- Suppose if the person ID get disabled from the organization (the email id which was used to create alerts in the Power bi service), what happens to the alerts/ email triggered.

Hello Anonymous ,
1- true, you are the only person that can manage and view the alerts set by you.
2- if the person was disabled, the alerts will work unless the email was deactivated, thus you need to re-create the alerts with another email.
so i suggest to make the alerts with one email as per everyone's request and this email manages them all
