Power BI sorting issue with data connection to Analysis Services

Hello All,

There seems to be an issue with how Power BI sorts numeric month values from a Live Connection to Analysis Services.  If I select Month Number from my Date table (in our database this value is set as integer) and place it in a table visual this is the order I recieve:

4, 8, 12, 2, 1, 7, 6, 3, 5, 11, 10, 9

If I switch to DESC order I get:

9, 10, 11, 5, 3, 6, 7, 1, 2, 12, 8, 4

Why isn't Power BI sorting these as a numeric value (ex. 1, 2, 3, etc...)? Why is Power BI still treating it like text? The value is set to integer in our database.

Any help or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Have you check if this column is using the 'Sort By Column' feature?

Proud to be a Datanaut!

You can't use Sort by Column when you are using a live connection to Analysis Services. All features in the Modeling tab are greyed out.

I know, I meant to check on SSAS side

It's sorted in chronological order.

@nleuck,

In my scenario, Month number shows in an expected order in Power BI Desktop. Please make sure that your monthnumber field is sorted correctly on SSAS side. And you can post question about SSAS sort in SSAS forum to get better support.
