Hi there,
I have a Power BI report that I have linked to a Dataset that's in a folder in my company's SharePoint.
I have the Data source as follows below:
This linked ok and I've published the report to a folder within the Power BI app now.
What I'm trying to do now is when I update the Data source (add a new line in the excel that's within the SharePoint) then when I refresh the Semantic model the report in the Power BI app will update.
I've downloaded the Power BI Personal Gateway and I got the above ask to happen when I had the dataset within my personal machine.
Now because the dataset is on an online SharePoint it doesn't seem to connect. Please see the setting in the Service below that I'm trying to do.
Here's the full error - Failed to update data source credentials: The credentials provided for the Web source are invalid. (Source at https://CompanyName.sharepoint.com/:x:/r/sites/OperationsHub/Shared%20Documents/Power%20BI%20reports/Labour%20Cost%20per%20Hour%20per%20Liters%20dispatched/Labour%20Cost%20per%20Hour%20-%20FY25.xlsx.)
Can anmybody help me in the above ask please?
Thank you.

Hello, you don't need a gateway for SharePoint Online source refresh. But if you want to use it, select OAuth2 instead of Anonymous from the authentication method dropdown--
Don't use Web data source. Use SharePoint Folder. No gateway required.

Thanks Christine, the OAuth worked for me now. Appreciate the help!
Hi Christine,
Thank you for your reply.
I tried this and I'm getting the following error:
The /:x/r/ should not be in the path - update your query with the more clean path of the file (you can copy the "right" path from the properties pane under "more details", there's an icon for "copy path" there if you're connecting to a single file). It's very picky about the url structure.
Here's a working example:
Hello @gbarr12345 ,
