Power BI merge table or Cube ?
Hello,
i'm an IT Student and i'm facing a problem with a task for my internship.
Let me explain the context
I have 2 databases that contain tables without any relationship between them.
-The first one (named DB_1) contains tables with the same architecture.
For example
Table A
| ID | SiteName | DateTime | Label | Value |
| 112 | Dubil | 22/05/2019 8:52:41 | Load weight (kg) | 51 |
| 110 | Dubil | 21/05/2019 15:08:37 | Load weight (kg) | 98 |
Table B
| ID | SiteName | DateTime | Label | Value |
| 587 | Liest | 22/05/2019 8:52:41 | Load weight (kg) | 51 |
| 576 | Liest | 21/05/2019 15:08:37 | Load weight (kg) | 98 |
90% of my DB_1 is composed of table like that.
From these tables I would like to take measures from them.
The remaining 10% need to be merged with some tables from second database (DB_2), because it's contains informations that needed in DB_2 for measures.
But first of all i have to combine, merge ... the tables.
However I have a lot of tables like the two above (about 200 +).
And then combined two tables from different databes seems a bit of sci-fi for me.
Instead of extract one table by one table, transform them (some column to remove), and load it would take me months. I believe there is a best way to do it.
So I'm wondering if I should not make a Cube (SSAS) in this case, because I intend to extract each of the tables and put them in a single report.
Do Power BI can create a cube ? Or do i need it before in SQL Server or Visual Studio for exemple ?
Any tips, advise and links are appreciated.
Feel free to ask for more explanation.
PS : Sorry for the little edit, i forgot to talk about the 2nd DB 😞

Heya,
it is possible to do those kind of modifications in power bi, however it is time consuming and slow. I would advice preparing your data in SQL server and create a view with all the modification done. Then load that into Power BI and start reporting.
