Power BI file size

In DAX studio, the total file size is showing as 815MB, is this real size? Or the size on the disk?

Will I soon have problems publishing to pbi service?

    Hi Anonymous

Power BI Premium is a tenant-level Microsoft 365 subscription available in two SKU (Stock-Keeping Unit) families:

    • P SKUs (P1-P5) for embedding and enterprise features, requiring a monthly or yearly commitment, billed monthly, and includes a license to install Power BI Report Server on-premises.

    • EM SKUs (EM1-EM3) for organizational embedding, requiring a yearly commitment, billed monthly. EM1 and EM2 SKUs are available only through volume licensing plans. You can't purchase them directly.

Only Global administrators or Billing Administrators can purchase P/EMSKUs.

A SKU is for Premium trail and Power BI Embedding. It don't need you to be an admin and it can be billed hourly.

Note: Only the P Premium SKU gives free users the ability to consume content hosted in the Premium capacity. EM SKUs are used for embedding content.

You may refer to this blog for more details about the limit on each dataset size in different Premium SKU.

The resource you can get for each SKU.

    Hey Anonymous ,

that's the size of the loaded data model in RAM.

And yes, when you reach the 1GB you have to change something in the file or you have to upgrade to Premium / Premium per User workspace.

"that's the size of the loaded data model in RAM ", is this the size that will be considered while publishing to pbi service?

Or the size on the disk? Size on disk is 200mb

        Hey Anonymous ,

        the limit is for both:

When you publish a PBIX file from Desktop (...) you won’t get a file size limit message unless the file is greater than 1 GB. Additionally, the data will continue to refresh as long as the data model size does not grow beyond 1 GB. After that, refreshing the dataset will give an error message letting you know your dataset is too large, and it will fail to refresh until you filter the data model back down under 1 GB.

        https://powerbi.microsoft.com/es-es/blog/power-bi-service-may-update-file-size-increase-to-1-gb/#oneGB

So you can just upload the file when it's below 1 GB and you can only refresh it as long as the data model is below 1 GB.

If you need any help please let me know.
