Power BI desktop comments and SharePoint

Hello Everyone,

1. I am using Power Bi desktop and wanted to include comments on the side so I can ask questions to the stakeholders (Managers) How do I do that?

1. Have any of any of you shared your report via sharepoint? I keep on getting this error.

“AWS & AZURE MASTER REPORT BI The ability to preview this file is currently disabled by your Power BI admin”

This is the steps it gives me the solve the issue: “This setting is off by default. To change the setting, go to the Power BI Admin portal, select Tenant settings > Integration settings > Users can view Power BI items saved in OneDrive and SharePoint (Preview), and set the toggle as desired. But what is a Tenant Settings?” I can’t seem to find it anywhere and I have Power BI pro. I have found settings.

Hi @Anonymous ,

For your first question, to include comments in Power BI Desktop, you can use the "Text box" visual.

1. Click on the "Text box" visual under the "Visualizations" pane.

2. Drag and drop the visual onto the canvas.

3. Type in your comment or question in the text box.

4. You can also format the text box by changing the color, font, size, and alignment under the "Visualizations" pane. You can then share the report with the stakeholders and they can view the comments and respond to your questions.

For your second question, only the Power BI administrator can see the Tenant settings in admin portal. If you're not, you have not access to it, you should only ask the admin to turn on the option.

Hello @v-yanjiang-msft !

I am experiencing a similar issue. I am getting an error when trying to open a Power BI file from OneDrive. The error says "The ability to preview this file is currently disabled by your Power BI admin error message" and it gives an error code of: TenantAdminFSDisabled.

I have looked at the admin settings and I see that "Users can share links to Power BI files stored in OneDrive and SharePoint through Power BI Desktop" is enabled but I don't even see the "Users can view Power BI items saved in OneDrive and SharePoint (Preview)"  option. Is there something somewhere else that has to be enabled or connected?
