Power BI decimal numbers not recognised

Hi,

I've seen a number of posts with regards to Power BI not recognising decimals. I'm having an issue in that there is no decimal in the first 200 lines of the first csv in the field (cons_from_status (kWh)) file I'm uploading. I've so far tried this:

1. altering the first line of the csv to a decimal to get it to register

2. changing query editor to decimal

3. changing number of decimal places on the data window to 8 (as per picture)

Not having any luck with it importing as decimals, only getting whole number distinct values.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tash

@tashhorn , In power query/edit query mode. Right click on table -> open advance editor and change data type there.

I have show that in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0yLtceT0i4&list=PLPaNVDMhUXGYo50Ajmr4SgSV9HIQLxc8L&index=2

Brilliant, thank you. That sorted it. Not sure why it didn't work when i changed the data type though as a separate step. Any ideas?

Hi @tashhorn

Any chnace you can share the CSV?

If you are setting the data type to decimal in Power Query that should carry into your model/data tables.

Regards

Phil
