Power BI date different to source date

In a  sharepoint list the "Extended" date column shows "06/30/2020", but the same column in Power BI column it shows "29/06/2020 22:00:00".  Any ideas why?  I could change the Power BI column to a "Date" type and that removed the "22:00:00", but still the wrong date remains.

Had a dig around and 2 of the 3 date columns on the Sharepoint list we "Single Line String", whereas the on displaying the wrong date was "Date" format.  I tried changing various things and then as this dashboard is only proof of concept, and the data wont be refreshed, I simply run a replace values on the table in Power BI from 06/30/2020 to 30/06/2020, which fixed the display issue, giving me time to fix the issue either at data source or in Sharepoint/PowerBi at a later date.

Hi @StuartSmith ,

The Power BI date format issue can also be related to your machine's system date format. The left image is your Sharepoint date format which is - mm/dd/yyyy. If you want Power BI to show - mm/dd/yyyy, try modifying your system's date format modify it to - mm/dd/yyyy.

If this helps please give Kudos and mark it as a Solution! 🙂

Thanks,

Pragati

It could be because of a couple of reasons.

1. Change format in Sharepoint and check

2. Time zone could have caused that. if the source date had time zone info.
