Power BI dataset refresh error when Excel column is deleted

I'm using Excel spreadsheets as datasources and deleted a column in one of the spreadsheets.  I was able to refresh in Power BI desktop but when I try to refresh in the service I get this error:

Underlying error code: -2147467259
Underlying error message: The column '12 Hr Range' of the table wasn't found.
DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingHResult: -2147467259
Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.Detail: 12 Hr Range
Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.Reason: Expression.Error

Do I have to republish my entire report in order to fix this issue?   Thanks for any help!

Hi @lmelero

The answer is Yes. To say it in an easy way, the Dataset in the service doesn't know about the change in the source therefore by republishing the report you will update the Dataset.

Basicly Whenever you make a change in the desktop you need to republish it to take effect in the service

Thank you!

If you create an embed code with that report, do you need to create a new code every time you republish that report?

What do you mean by Embed code with that report?

As I said any change done in the desktop, needs to be published to the service in order to update the dataset. Unless you Edit the report directly in the service.

I'm using an embed code in order to share the report on a website.

I think I may be able to keep the same embed code if I just replace the report with the updated report instead of deleting, I'll have to test it though.
