Hello Community,
I wish to integrate a feature into my Power BI dashboard where if a certain action is taken, I would be able to view or access a PDF document. My dashboard consists of pulling data from an excel sheet containing many products, each with a unique item code. My goal is to add a feature where if a button is clicked, the corresponding item code currently being viewed/focused on in the dashboard would then be searched for within the PDF document and displayed accordingly, either in a seperate window or within the dashboard itself. The PDF document consists of hundreds of pages, is updated daily, and is therefore dynamic in both the number of pages and information it contains.
I would be more than happy to provide any additional information if required, and I am open to any work-around or alternative solution. Your help and guidance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
It sounds like this data should not be in a PDF honestly - if you want people to be able to find things in it easily. You can open PDFs from SharePoint in Power BI, but it's not going to highlight what you're searching for in the file. You could probably use the new Copilot to ask questions about the content of the file and it will respond with the info you want, though? It still won't highlight exactly where in the file it's coming from, but it'll pull the content from the file. This is the rebranded generative AI Power Virtual Agent bot, which can index a SharePoint site now.
Hi @YNM
I suggest that you upload your PDF documlents to sharepoint as an example, and in your dataset create a list of links to those individual documents, from your dashboard you can use a table with link activated to open them.
Did it work ? 👍 A kudos would be appreciated 📢 Mark it as a solution to help spreading knowledge
