Power BI and Data Gateway

When trying to open Power BI I get the error "There was an error reading the primary service from the application"  this is after I have uninstalled and reinstalled and happens on both 32 and 64 bit.  After reading through the forums I discovered I need to uninstall On Premises Data Gateway but it won't uninstall.  I have tried to install it as well and it won't install.  It just does nothing.  Any help please.

    Ok I was able to solve my issue.  It was a problem with my machine.config file I copied it from another user and replaced it.  I am still having issues downloading the data gateway.

      Hi hollyrd,

       

      Do you mean you are not able to download Data gateway? Or are not able to install gateway? Do you get any error message related to gateway?

        I am not able to install it.  It will download but when I hit run nothing happens.  My guess is it is interferring with a previous install that I uninstalled.  I did download the gateway on my other computer to test it out.  My database is using 32 bit oracle and I am using the 32 bit power bi, everything works fine until I try to view it through a browser.  The gateway will not connect to my 32 bit database.  Correct me if I am wrong but after further research the gateway and power bi will only work together with 64 bit oracle.
