Power BI and Azure DTU consumption

I have created a Power BI dashboard with directy query to a SQL Database store in Azure.  However each time I open the dashboard in Power BI Desktop I notice a dramatic increas in the DTU consumption, is this normal and is there something I can do to improve this.  I would point out I have created views which I am using in Power BI as opposed to connecting to tables, does this make a difference?
