I have data where I download many columns of data and recently something strange happens.
Power BI adds rows where only two columns are filled. It doesn’t happen when I investigate the csv file in the editor or in Excel, there it looks fine, so the date itself is okay. What does Power BI do?
So, let’s say it look like this:
id | name | status | creation date | due date | release | Area |
1 | Investigation abc | Closed | 1.1.1992 | 11.11.2010 | R1.1 | Sk1 |
3 | Investigation d | closed | 1.1.1992 | 13.12.2022 | R1.1 | Sk1 |
|
| Open |
|
|
| Bmt4 |
|
| Closed |

|
| Sk1 |
2 | Fancy name | Open | 10.10.2020 | 20.04.2022 | R1.2 | Bmt4 |
4 | Other name | In progress | 20.20.2020 | 20.07.2032 | R1.1 | Bmt4 |
The delimiter is comma. But it doesn’t happen every time (maybe every second time).
Any Ideas what happens there and how I can fix it/work around it?

The problem was in my data, kind of. The headers were in diffrent languages, so only the columns wich are the same in both laguages were propperly matched. ^^"

Hi @Anonymous ,
Is the environment the same when the data is loaded? What if the data area is formatted as a table?
Or try the latest version of Power BI:

It is the same environment and the very same device. I am using 2.110.805.0 64-bit.
What do you mean whith "if the data area is formatted as a table"?
The added rows are in the data tab and also appear in table visualisations.
Hi @Anonymous ,
I found a similar thread while searching for this problem, try the solution in this thread: source file converted to .txt and then back to .csv:
CSV data file importing with odd blank lines
