Power BI - Smart Narrative
Hi
My Power BI Desktop has been updated to the August 2024 version; however, ‘Smart Narrative’ is not showing in the Visualization screen—only ‘Narrative’ is available. I checked the Options > Preview features, but there is no checkbox for ‘Smart Narrative.’ I also searched for ‘Get more visuals,’ but ‘Smart Narrative’ is not available to add.
I believed ‘Smart Narrative’ was a default feature in the new version of Power BI Desktop. Could anyone please help me enable ‘Smart Narrative’? Many thanks.
you can uninstall and reinstall again the Power BI desktop application. Hope it works

Hi Apple08 - Yes, Narrative is a default chart, consider reinstalling Power BI Desktop to ensure a fresh installation resolves any installation errors that may be preventing the feature from showing.

I hope by reinstalling the software it should visible in your visual pane.

Unfortunately I am experiencing this same issue. I have uninstalled and re-installed Power BI (multiple times!) to the latest version (July 2025) but still the standard Narrative visual selection is only appearing in the visual pane and Smart Narrative is not. From what I can see, this is no longer a preview feature.I have also exhausted all of the tips with enabling preview features, clearing caches, restoring default visual pane etc etc. PBI service doesn't show smart narrative neither. There must be something I'm missing here?
Any idea's please?
Many thanksI was told by our IT that a paid Copilot licence is required to access the smart narrative function. 😞
