Power BI Shared Capacity - Total Storage

In terms of Power BI Pro licensing, I have a few loaded questions that I have not been able to clarify/find through documentation and the forum. So any help would be greatly appreciated!

First off, is the shared capacity automatically implemented once more than one Power BI Pro user within your organization is activated?

In addition, once more than one Power BI Pro user has been activated, I need more clarification in the below messaging:

  • There's a per-workspace storage limit of 10 GB.
  • Premium Per User (PPU) tenants have a 100-TB storage limit.
  • When you're using a Pro license, the total usage can’t exceed the tenant storage limit of 10 GB multiplied by the number of Pro licenses in the tenant.

From: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/admin/service-admin-manage-your-data-storage-in-power-bi

Does the message define that if my organization has eight active users then there is 80GB of total storage available? Meaning that my organization and I could create 8 shared max storage workspaces amongst ourselves? Or, when a workspace is shared with a coworker, does that person absorb that storage capacity as well? For example, if I create a shared workspace with 5GB of usage and shared that with three of the eight coworkers, do those three coworkers absorb the usage as well resulting in 15GB of the 80GB in use?

I could be completely off course here but am really hoping for some clarification on the total storage/shared capacity aspect of Power BI Pro😅 Thank you to anyone who can help!!

Hi @VinitPawar,

It means that as a tenant admin, I can use 80gb (assuming no other users are used any storage). I can create workspaces and shared across with organization. Is my understanding correct?

Feel free to email me with any of your BI needs.

Based on my understanding:

1. Each member will get 10gb limit on pro license.

2. Now you only have 10gb limit for all the workspace created by your account.

3. You can't use other's 70gb space. Even if it is not consumed by them.

4. Your tenant storage is 80gb.
