Power BI Service -Snowflake Error
We are new Power BI users moving from Domo.We are sourcing the data from Snwoflake we did the integration but still facing issues while publishing it to services.
Hi ajitajena
This is a common error indicating that the Power BI Service environment cannot recognize or use the Snowflake data provider.
Possible Solutions:
-
Use a Gateway:
- Make sure you have installed and configured an On-premises data gateway on the machine or server that connects to Snowflake.
- Ensure the gateway is connected to your Power BI account and is set up to work with the Snowflake data source.
-
Check the Connection Type:
- Verify that you're using DirectQuery or Import in a way that is compatible with Power BI Service.
- Sometimes, connections that work in Power BI Desktop won’t work in the Service without a properly configured gateway.
-
Permissions and Access to Snowflake:
- Ensure that the Power BI Service account has the necessary permissions to access Snowflake.
- Check for any IP restrictions or firewalls that might be blocking access.
-
Update Versions:
- Make sure you're using the latest version of Power BI Desktop.
- Also, ensure the gateway is updated to the latest version.
If None of the Above Works:
If you've verified all the above and the issue still persists, it's recommended to open a support ticket with Microsoft Power BI Support. Provide them with:
- A detailed description of the issue
- Screenshots of the error
- Information about your Snowflake setup
- Gateway configuration details
This will help them investigate the issue more thoroughly and provide a tailored solution.
